Publishing video directly from the iPhone 3G S and Pixelpipe 1.4.1

June 19, 2009 · 18 Comments

We’ve added support for video uploads directly from the iPhone 3G S today with our release of Pixelpipe 1.4.1 to the iPhone App Store. While we’re 90% awesome and allow for publishing directly from the 3G S to over 40 services (Apple only supports two) there is one small issue in that we don’t display the thumbnail for the video. The preview however is displayed just above the video with the same name so it’s easy to determine which video you are about to upload.

While we’re sorry about the small inconvenience it really couldn’t be helped since we didn’t have access to the 3G S until this morning and were able to test our software for the first time. We now know how to access the thumbnails and will be submitting a fix to Apple this evening, hopefully we can get it through testing and out to you all very soon!

And now for the awesomeness with our 1.4.1 release:

- We’ve increased our maximum size per item to 200MB, you can now upload long videos without the danger of running out of memory directly from the iPhone.

- Multi-Select: Send multiple photos & video at the same time. Just select the media by clicking on the name or pre-view to add them to the queue, press the blue arrow to the right to set Titile, Caption and Tags for each item.

- Routing Tags: Overrride your default destinations by use of our routings tags feature to send to specific services or groups of destinations. Just include @service_name or create groups by associating multiple services with the same tag. eg.@twitter, @facebook, @friends. More info at http://tr.im/p0ZR.

- Publish video directly from the phone to over 40 services, Apple provides upload to mobile.me and YouTube however we include Facebook, Twitter, 12Seconds.tv. Flickr, blip.tv, Vimeo, Photobucket and a bunch more.

Video upload support for the following: Acrobat.com, blip.tv, box.net, Buzznet, Dailymotion, Dropshots, drop.io, Email, Facebook, Flickr, FotoTime, Friendfeed, FTP, Hyves.net, identi.ca*, imeem, ipernity, Jaiku*, Kewego, Kodak Gallery, kwippy*, Kyte.tv, Moby Pictures, mobile.me, Nokia Ovi, Phanfare, Photobucket, Picasa, Ping.fm*, Plerb*, Plurk*, Radar, Revver, Seesmic, Smugmug, TinyPic, Twitter*, Tumblr, Viddler, vimeo, Vox, YouAre, YouTube.

How to connect Nokia Photos with Pixelpipe for publishing photos and video to +85 destinations

June 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Nokia provides a really sweet application for managing & editing photos & videos from the Windows desktop. Nokia Photos not only provides a really effortless way to sync media from Nokia phones however also supports digital cameras and local media on your PC. You don’t even need to have a Nokia device to utilize the free software, just install from Nokia, point it at your media and you’re good to go.

While the media sync and management features are nice they only provide upload to Ovi, Flickr and Vox, that is until now since Pixelpipe is providing full support for uploads from Nokia Photos to any of Pixelpipe’s +85 global destinations.

I’ve been using Nokia Photos to publish photos and videos through for sometime now and thought it might be a good time to write a quick tutorial for new users since there’s a small amount of configuration required.

To get started simply download and install Nokia Photos from http://is.gd/13KF4 on to your PC. You’ll then need to add the Pixelpipe as a destination to the application settings at Tools > Options > Web accounts > Add new.

Select ‘Other service provider’ and enter http://pixelpipe.com/services/lifeblog/ as the ‘Web service address’.

Add Pixelpipe

Now just enter your Pixelpipe log-in email address under ‘User name’ (or sign-up for a free account at http://pixelpipe.com/signup). Now comes the only slightly tricky bit, we use a special application password since the uploads over from Nokia Photos (Atom based) are not encrypted and we want to protect your privacy. You can easily find your application password under ‘Settings’ after logging into pixelpipe.com, just enter it as your ‘Password’ & choose your preferrence for ‘Upload image size’ and you’re done.

Log-in to Pixelpipe

Ongoing just select your photos and video from the Timeline or Album views to upload by selecting the world with an upward arrow on the lower menu to publish and selecting Pixelpipe.

Easy, free & awesome!
